Hello from Argentina,
The days are cold but bright; and the shadows are long.
The pandemic is gathering pace in South America and the local businesses are suffering. Movements are restricted, airports still closed, face masks still mandatory and the locals are staying in. The people here are used to crises and uncertainty and keep marching on. I admire them hugely.
As for us - we are enjoying our last weeks here in beautiful Mendoza before heading home to NZ. It’s been a difficult decision to leave here but with so many unknowns and restrictions, we feel it’s the right thing to do.
We are fortunate to have options and NZ is a great one right now.

What a fantastic evening for the launch of my pop-up show at Wilson & Dorset last week. Thank you to those who attended! The response to my work has been absolutely wonderful.
A huge thank you to Ju at Studio Home for whipping together this show with her amazing enthusiasm, style and talent. And to Amanda and the team at Wilson & Dorset in Wanaka for offering up their stunning space to showcase my paintings. It has been a fantastic show.

Hello lovely people!
I'm excited to let you know that the first of my original paintings are now available in Auckland. Endemic World on Ponsonby Road have four small works for sale and I will be sending more paintings North just as soon as I can finish them.
Endemic World has a fantastic selection of original art available, as well as beautiful affordable art prints and a great website for online shopping. I'm super pleased to be working with them.
Meanwhile, the studio is full of new works on the go, as I complete some commissions and explore some new ideas. Stay tuned!

This year I am studying abstracted portraits and still-life works, monochromatic works and looking at how to incorporate printed textiles into my paintings. An age-old approach. I can't wait.
In the studio I'm stretching new swathes of linen over frames and dreaming up new colour palettes. Wonderful stuff.
Also a return to my textile design roots as I incorporate some of my original drawings and paintings into new pattern designs that will be printed on fabric and turned into who-knows-what. Something delicious. I'm thinking silk scarves and linen totes... Suggestions welcome!

Not sure if it's the mad spring weather or just my creative evolution but change is definitely in the air.
I am researching abstract expressionism at present and feeling totally inspired by the movement that happened predominately in the 1950's. Willem De Kooning, Clifford Still, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline....
I have begun to cut loose in my painting and mark-making, exploring expressionism further in my work.
I'm loving it!

We had a wonderful launch event for the new Belle Hawk Artworks last evening! Thanks so much to all who helped this evening come to life; especially Amy and Benjamin from Benjamin Black Goldsmiths who hosted the evening in their elegant space. Bubbly and canapés, the grand piano playing and lots of our favourite people in the room. What a treat!
For me it was super-satisfying to hang my paintings on the walls and present them to the world. (Well, to Nelson at least). All unsold paintings are still available to purchase in our webshop. Digital gicleé prints in A3 and A2 size of all paintings are also available - please enquire.

This charming collection of A4 collages is the latest addition to the Belle Hawk Art store. These are hand-crafted using the same complimentary spring colour palette featured in our launch collection of paintings.
Heavy watercolour paper, signed and posted flat on foam board with a cellophane wrap, these make fantastic gifts. They look great in a group or just simply framed up in white.
