Hello lovely people!
I’m moving out of my beautiful studio gallery space at 27 Vanguard Street and so decided it was a good time to hang some paintings on the walls and open up the space for a week or two.
It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work in this large and light-filled space. New tenants are taking over the entire building and so it is time for me to move my practice elsewhere. New studio location TBC…!
Meantime, I will be packing up my things and finishing off a number of paintings which will be available to view and purchase from the studio over the next couple of weeks. It would be wonderful to see you at the studio!
Please feel free to drop in anytime between 10am-3pm Monday to Friday or by appointment.
Best wishes,
Georgie
UPCOMING EXHIBITION
TURUA GALLERY, AUCKLAND - opening 16 June.
Hi everyone,
I’m excited to be presenting a solo show at Turua Gallery this coming June. Opening Friday 16th June, this exhibition will be a culmination of months of investigation and painting. Works on linen, canvas and board will explore ideas of home and familiarity, simplified form and colour harmony
Turua have represented me for several years now and this is my first solo show with them. I’m thrilled to be unveiling this collection of paintings at Turua with Liss and the team.
I hope to meet you there!
Georgie
Hello hello!.
At the Spring Exhibition; Red Gallery, Nelson
Thanks so much for all of your enquiries regarding new and available artwork
I will have new paintings at Turua Gallery in Auckland over the coming months. I will also be showing paintings at my local Nelson gallery Red Gallery, and at Little River Gallery in Canterbury; as well as uploading a few originals online here on my website.
My new limited edition print, ‘Lamplight’:
I’m working on a series of small landscapes on linen and canvas as well as some large new works - abstracted landscapes in cooler colours. I’m loving this productive time of year and some longer, lighter days.
Thank you for your patience!
Enjoy your season,
Best wishes,
Georgie
I’m very happy to let you know that I will be opening my solo exhibition for 2022 at Little River Gallery in Christchurch on October 1st.
This exhibition is the culmination of months of work and I’m thrilled with how this collection of paintings has come together. There are large and small works on linen in a colour palette of muted turquoise skies, golden ochre fields and deep blue shadows. Pops of burnt orange and dirty pink add warmth. The show comprises a dozen original still life and landscape works and will also mark the release of a new limited edition print.
I will be at Little River for the opening on Saturday 1st October at 11am and hope to see some of you there!
Please contact the gallery for enquiries regarding pre-sales and the online catalogue
Big thanks.
Turua Gallery, Auckland NZ. New gallery representation in Auckland.
Thank you for your patience while I am busy in the studio, painting
new works to make available for sale!
It is taking me some time to replenish the website with new original artworks.
Rest assured they are coming soon!
I have a group of paintings on linen that have been gradually evolving;
layers of oils built up to shape and reveal new forms and themes.
I’m enjoying working these through to completion, one brushstroke at a time.
Abstract landscapes that weave stories of primitive dwellings and old trees,
warm winter light and well-trodden pathways
Please let me know if you have any enquiries
or watch the website for the latest available paintings.
Thanks for checking in,
Georgie.
An amazing opening night!
Thank you for the fantastic response to my latest exhibition, ‘Local Poetry’. It was wonderful to see so many of you at Red Gallery on Friday evening. It was also exciting to have out-of-town folk buying paintings online at the same time! Thank you all for being there to support my art practice.
The exhibition sold out in 24 hours, which was thrilling! It will hang for two weeks in the gallery. There will be new limited edition prints made from some of the original paintings, so keep an eye out for these online soon.
I’m excited to be starting a new body of work and also taking on some commissions, after a pause for reflection and some research time.
Warm wishes,
Georgie.
Hello from Argentina,
The days are cold but bright; and the shadows are long.
The pandemic is gathering pace in South America and the local businesses are suffering. Movements are restricted, airports still closed, face masks still mandatory and the locals are staying in. The people here are used to crises and uncertainty and keep marching on. I admire them hugely.
As for us - we are enjoying our last weeks here in beautiful Mendoza before heading home to NZ. It’s been a difficult decision to leave here but with so many unknowns and restrictions, we feel it’s the right thing to do.
We are fortunate to have options and NZ is a great one right now.
A few images from the leafy autumn here...
Best wishes from me to you,
Georgie
Hola! Welcome back
An update from me to let you know that we are still meandering in Mendoza, post-lockdown. We can now head out to shops, restaurants and parks - with restrictions and social distancing.
it has been fantastic to get out and about in our local neighborhood.
The autumn here is beautiful. Mendoza is a city of tree-lined streets and many plazas and parks that are crowned with richly-hued deciduous trees; laden with leaves. That, paired with the dry and dusty earth and the biscuit-coloured buildings, and I have a perfect palette from which to work
On the home front, we are still homeschooling our three children. It has its daily challenges! And impacts hugely on my ability to be creative and get into the studio to paint. That said, I’m inspired daily by my surroundings and am slowly getting together a new body of work.
Keep in touch via my Instagram account for all the images of daily life here in Mendoza and my latest paintings from the studio.
Best wishes. Saludos!
Georgie
